The latest TPA
There were many products on show at the Budapest IFABO, but you could hardly find any hardware, in which there would be Hungarian intellectual products, design ideas or perhaps manufacturing activity, if... If there was not one product striking at one corner of the KFKI IT Group’s stand behind a glass wall – that circuit board was produced on KFKI ITEA Co. Ltd.’s manufacturing line and was the heart of the latest model named XP–1 of the parallel computer TPA. And TPA XP–1 is the highest performance IT equipment built into computer in this region of Europe.
Development of this model has been prepared by the 15-membered team of KFKI Measurement and IT Research Institute since the middle of 1989. These professionals were the designers and builders of models of DEC architecture (TPA 560, 11/48, 11/58x, TPA 11/56x, and the like). Although development of the DEC compatible hardware had to come to an end in KFKI, part of the intellectual capital and the devices for measurement/design/assembly still remained there, so they could be utilized in implementation of this machine.
